Woofie!! To all My Friends!...
I came to live in my new home in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2004 (Nathan's Beginning), with Mistress Elizabeth and Grandma Agnes. Grandma Agnes' home was going to be sold, so right after I was brought to my new home,  Mistress went to work on Grandma's house and left Grandma and I with Tami. Tami had a big black doggy named Katie, a big back yard to play in, and lots of rugs to pee on! I was only 2 months old and didn't know about behaving, so I didn't know any better! *sigh* Wow! Tami could really yell LOUD!
Mistress was away for 10 days, but she called every day to see how things were going. "Oscar and Katie are playing together really cute", Tami would say. "Oscar?" "Yup, because he's a wiener dawg", Tami answered. I didn't have a name yet, but my Mistress definitely didn't like the name "Oscar", because she felt it wasn't special enough. After thinking for awhile and realizing I would start responding to "Oscar" if I didn't have a "real" name, she decided on "Nathan", for "Nathan's Hotdogs". The next day Mistress told Tami, "Well, if we have to name him after a wiener, make it a good one - Nathan!". That is how I was named Nathan. I love my name, and was so glad it wasn't "stinker", "cunning", "ants in pants", or "trouble maker" - because I was called those things too!
In my last blog I told you about Roo who came to live with us when he was 8 months old. It was August in 2005, and I was 18 months old. That was the same year Grandma Agnes passed away, and Mistress' boyfriend, Louis, moved in with us. So many changes for all of us!

Hi! I'm Nathan, The Dachshund, and I have a lot to say, so my Mommy, Elizabeth, told me how I could say it here and entertain all my friends! I'm a black/tan/silver dappled/mini Dachshund! I am 8 years old and am a courageous clown! I live in a large "burb" - San Jose, California - where the weather is perfect for running around and causing trouble - but we'll get to that in a second!

I live with my Mistress, Elizabeth and my Daddy, Louis, and my Dachshund friends Kanga-Roo, whom we call "Roo" (he is 6 years old), and Buddy, who is going to be 16 years old soon, and Sascha, a black and white Piebald, who is 10 years old! Roo and Buddy are red Dachshunds and are my best friends. Roo's name used to be "Charlie", but when his first Mommy couldn't keep him my Mistress brought him home and named him Kanga-Roo - because he could jump high as if on a spring (over and over and over again). He was 8 months old and very silly. I loved Roo from the beginning. Our Mistress was worried there would be a problem, but we played and wrestled from the start! I digress...I was born very teeny to very loving Dachshund breeders, and they did not expect me to live. They tell the story how they kissed me and gave me loving care in anticipation of my death! It was their L-O-V-E and my S-P-U-N-K that got us through those dark times, and shortly I began to thrive. My Mistress says I have a lot of personality, and am oh-so-stubborn, so my tiny size didn't get in my way! More later...

Roo would like to share his cool and refreshing summer treat. The FREE recipe can be found in our store, Pet Pawties In A Box, along with other FREE recipes! Doggy Summer Refresher...

Shhhh...everybody is sleeping on the hammock on this lazy Sunday, so I think I'll go and join them...

Hello My Friends...

It's a beautiful Saturday morning in N. California. The 3-digit heat wave has passed, and we're back to our slight breezy, low 80's, no humidity weather we're so famous for! Happy!

My name is Elizabeth, and I am the owner of an eCommerce store Pet Pawties In A Box that is eclectic in its content. We have everything from made-to-fit Party Hats! for tiny to huge Dogs & Cats; to Walking Pet Balloons - Pets that require no care! ;-) - and so much in between. It's a fun job because I love animals, and having a business that caters to them and their owners keeps me smiling. Nathan, The Dachshund, was my inspiration for everything, and he remains my inspiration!
Elizabeth...                      Nathan...

I have recently added a new item to the store I'm really excited about - Lupine Collars and Accessories! for Cats and Dogs. The Lupine Pet Company is based in New Hampshire, and all their Collars, Leads, and Harnesses are proudly made in the United States of America - both the materials AND the construction! Their products are woven in looms in New Hampshire, and if destroyed by your pet, are guaranteed for life!

I'll be having a contest to WIN a Collar soon, so stay tuned for all the details coming soon in my store and on our blog - Goodbye for now, my friends....

Hello, My Friends...

I'm Elizabeth, Nathan's (The Dachshund) owner, and I wanted to start this blog to share how a little bit of a dog changed the course of my life....Nathan is the true reason I started my business, Pet Pawties In A Box!

It all started in 2003 when I went to a funeral and came home with a tiny 2 month old Dachshund. He had just been adopted by a wonderful woman, my aunt, and shortly found himself homeless through no fault of his own. He was grieving, had stopped eating, and my heart went out to him immediately. He inspired me, even then Nathan's beginning . I had always owned cats, and had no idea how vastly different dog ownership was in comparison. He weighed a mere 3 lbs., and was smaller than my cat at home, so I was sure it would be an easy transition. I was wrong, but more on that later...

Our upcoming blogs (Nathan's and mine), will be the journey of how one Dachshund has now grown to four, and my business, Pet Pawties In A Box, for all pets and their owners. I hope you enjoy their antics, and participate in the upcoming coupons and give-aways!

Stay tuned!
Elizabeth
